On Thursday 24th November 2016, the Hucknall Sixth Form Centre was officially opened by Mark Spencer, MP for Sherwood, and Richard Bullock, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire.
Staff from across the Diverse Academies Learning Partnership (DALP) joined in celebrating at a glittering awards ceremony to recognise leading educators’ dedication and achievements in the primary and secondary sectors.
Academy staff and partner turn-key design and build contractor Pinelog Ltd have broken the ground at the site which forms part of a £600K investment at Tuxford Primary Academy.
The new two storey building will create four additional classrooms and has been sympathetically designed to complement the existing academy, which is located within a designated conservation area.
The new provision will feature a central shared space to support group learning and roof lights will ensure a bright and airy environment in which pupils can work. Once completed in spring 2017, the new building will be further enhanced by the refurbishment of the two existing playgrounds.
Tuxford Primary Academy has seen rapid growth and development, from 132 pupils in September 2013 to 322 pupils in October 2016, underpinned by a clear vision and determination to improve the quality of early years and primary education in the Tuxford area.
